Danger, Recovery and Excitement at Mini PARS 2007

In September 2007 we finally managed to get members of the PARS Under 10 Rocket Club together for Mini PARS 2007.

PARS members Jamie Young and Olivia Fuller joined us at the park for some A, B and C fun. I can genuinely say that we had two of the best C-class launches I have ever seen.

Ready for launch. Countdown 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... Ignition! The rocket arches over, and fails to deploy. It crashes in trees 300 yards away. The game set up to find the rocket. Taken by the Tree Gods, it is too far up to reach by hand.

Fortunately, Chrysogon appears with telescopic pole and tree cutter. The rocket is retrived, but the parachute has been fried. It will live to fly another day.

Golden Discovery is prepared on a B motor.

As a result of being placed too high up on the launch rod, the rocket is unstable, and buries itself in the ground just a few meters away. After much diagnosis, we try again, this time on a C and correctly positioned on the pole.

Let's try again ...

The C class flight is incredible. One of the best I have seen. The rocket flies straight up, and gently floats down to land safely several hundred yards away.

Another amazing flight. Very high, very straight and
a soft landing. Well done Jamie!

1000 feet! Amazing.
